About Palma

Capital of Mallorca & Balearic Islands

Palma de Mallorca is the capital city of the Balearic Islands, located on the southwest coast of Mallorca in Spain. It sits on a large natural bay called Palma Bay (Bahía de Palma), which has been an important Mediterranean port for centuries.

p> The city was founded during Roman times and later developed heavily during the Moorish period (as “Madina Mayurqa”), which still influences the street layout of the Old Town today. After the Christian conquest in 1229 by King James I of Aragon, Palma became a major trading and cultural hub in the Mediterranean.

Today, Palma combines historic architecture, modern tourism, beaches, luxury shopping and nightlife — making it the most visited city in the Balearic Islands.

  • Beachfront promenade
